Pros

Field work is positive

Cons

The office environment is very negative. Positive reviews on here have clearly been left by one internal HR employee. Management is sexist, non transparent and unavailable. Overall little guidance or direction provided. Organizations effectiveness and reputation decreasing day by day. The turnover is extremely high due to the poor management.

Action Against Hunger Response

At Action Against Hunger USA we welcome diverse feedback, the positive, the negative and the constructive. It is indeed one of the reasons we have an employer account on Glassdoor to be able to have additional channels to interact with our thousands of staff globally, hear their voices and suggestions. We believe that dialogue, sharing of perspectives and opinions even when they may differ is important to make us grow as individuals, teams and as an organization. We do respect the views you have shared and regret that you had a negative experience working with us. Respectfully, we would like to offer a different perspective. Action Against Hunger USA employs thousands of dedicated humanitarian workers around the world who go the extra mile every day to make our programs and services to communities in need more effective. In fact in May this year we were again rated 4 stars out of 4 stars by Charity Navigator for our performance as a charitable organization. We have maintained this rating for 11 years. As many of our other colleagues have also commented on in their reviews Action Against Hunger like many other organizations is going through organizational change to adapt to the growing humanitarian needs, increasingly complex emergencies and rapidly changing operational context. Organizational change is never an easy endeavor to embark on neither for leadership or staff. Yet we believe it is necessary to prepare ourselves to become an organization fit for the future that is better able to serve the world’s most vulnerable. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best in your future career path and hope you find an organization that is a right fit for you.

Pros

- Do good humanitarian work overseas - General staff in the offices are very friendly, approachable, and lovely to work with. - Benefits were decent (good US health insurance, generous PTO (18 days a year to start and four summer Fridays)). Retirement doesn't vest for three years.

Cons

- Leadership was not communicative and lacked empathy when laying off a large proportion of the company including not following their own HR policies. -Salaries were below what similar NGOs paid.
