Pros
If you are a recent college graduate or someone with little experience in the field looking to get into ortho sales, Acumed is a great starting point. Spend a few years learning how to be a rep and move onto a bigger/better company. If you stay too long you will hurt your career.
Cons
Virtually all management is under-qualified. Territory managers are generally only helpful to new hires for a week or so. Regional managers don’t hold the Territory Managers accountable. You will be given virtually no help in learning how to do your job. You need to learn how to swim quickly or it’ll be a short tenure. So many promises were made over the years that never came to fruition. Hjalmar has not made his direction for the company clear since joining a few years ago. Top-down communication is remarkably terrible. There is no clear vision for the future of the company. Old products keep getting older and market share keeps falling. New products that have been promised for half a decade still aren’t in the testing stage. All other business units are stuck using technology from 20 years ago and refuse/can’t afford to innovate. Tribal knowledge across the entire company forces new hires to fall into line, as their ideas/recommendations will not be heard or accepted.
