Pros

Unlimited sick leave and incredible health insurance benefits. Fun summer Olympics and employee activities. Inclusive and kind environment especially for queer folks. Caring and well-intentioned C-Suite who you can tell genuinely cares about their employees. Mission-driven organization with kind, inclusive and smart people. Unfortunately this sentiment doesn't always trickle down to every team.

Cons

Because of the great benefits and wonderful employees, you have people who have stayed here for years. However, this leads to people who have taken their job for granted (i.e. complaining about management, getting lazy, etc. which lowers employee morale especially for new team members, one of which quit within a few months of working here). Within my immediate team, I was expected to sit through multiple meetings a week where I was not asked a single question or given an avenue to speak. I was told to be a fly on the wall, which is fine when you are starting out and learning the ropes. However by the end of the year, this left me feeling disengaged and undervalued. If my boss could not make our 1x1 for the week, it was typically cancelled instead of rescheduled. This meant I would go a week without talking in a single meeting. I would try to advocate for myself by messaging to ask for more meetings, but was met with resistance or just flat out ignored. This uncertainty around expectations lead to my manager saying that I was underperforming. Unfortunately this manager never supported me to figure out what the nebulous expectations were. I was soon blind-sighted by layoff and blamed for low performance without proof. Also my team had a bad habit of mispronouncing the names of my ethnic coworkers. So much for being an inclusive company.
