Incessant Micromanagment. Low Pay - Account Manager Advertise Purple Employee Review

Pros

Remote. Log off early some Fridays. Decent benefits.

Cons

It is impossible to overstate the insane levels of micromanagement; it is constant and completely out of control. You will spend so much more time trying to document/prove you did your work or making changes management wants that you'll struggle to actually do your job, but even that won't be enough. Management will just make up a new step of the process or documentation requirement out of thin air the next day and ask why you didn't do it. Pay is abysmally low, particularly for metro areas in California or New York. Management will string you along, but there are no real paths or opportunities for growth. Management exists completely in a bubble. It's baffling why they even bother to send out "anonymous" surveys to employees and push for responses. It is clear they're panicking amid a decline and are just spamming anything and everything, even when it does not make sense. In terms of support from management, it's not so much "do less with more" as it is "do everything with nothing".

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. While we respect all employee feedback, this review does not reflect the culture, processes, or compensation structure at Advertise Purple. As a fully remote organization, we prioritize trust, autonomy, and flexibility. Our teams operate independently, and our internal systems are designed to streamline workflow—not create unnecessary administrative burdens. We regularly gather input from employees across all departments and make ongoing improvements based on that feedback. Regarding compensation, we conduct routine market analyses to ensure pay is competitive for the role, experience level, and geographic location. Many members of our team have advanced internally, and our long-tenured employees—including several who began in entry-level roles—demonstrate that meaningful career growth is both available and achievable here. While we are sorry this individual did not have a positive experience, their description does not align with the feedback we consistently receive from our team or with our commitment to a positive, collaborative, and supportive work environment. We remain focused on providing transparent communication, professional development opportunities, and a strong culture built on mutual respect and accountability.

Pros

Great place to build a career. Hard work is recognized and rewarded. Big on sharing momentum and excitement department-wide. The harder you work, the more you make. That's what everyone wants

Cons

Fully remote, which is also a pro, but can sometimes impact getting teams together in-person for collaborative efforts

Pros

The offices are kinda cool and they allow dogs and have fun events and good catered lunches. Young fun and smart people. WFH benefits too.

Cons

Just about everything else. If you’re smart and motivated and young there is about 10,000 other companies to work for in LA. Way too many accounts for low pay. Terrible needy clients who expect way too much and you’re constantly lying to them to keep their business. If you lose a client for any reason they blame you for it and you get a black mark, which is insane since some companies don’t have the budget anymore. Overall the affiliate business isn’t fun and it’s full of shady practices and boring and confusing work. Hardly any day is 9-5 as you will be working much more to get work done. Constant annual layoffs and upper management that could care less about you makes you stressed and nervous all the time.
