Pros

Very bright and enthusiastic cross-functional team with a lot of experience in advanced tech. Good work-life balance, with allowance for hybrid roles. Complex and engaging work on an advanced application of robotics tech.

Cons

Some sudden changes in direction, but this is normal for a younger company.

Pros

There are a lot of really brilliant and positive folks working at Aescape, and a nearly endless list of exciting problems to work on. I found the culture to be mostly positive, and the work was always interesting. The people are genuinely kind, and it's refreshing how much everybody is focused on creating positive user/customer experiences. The company's prospects are promising, and it's great being able to regularly hear about real people falling in love with the product. Despite some of the negative reviews in here, I really didn't have any issue with the leadership, and genuinely liked those that I interacted with.

Cons

The company has gradually shifted toward being less remote-worker-friendly than they once were, which I think is a shame. The management-to-contributor ratio is probably a bit too high, resulting in a bit too much time dedicated to planning and process rather than just building what needs to be built (though I think they're making progress on improving that). Strategic budget-tightening has resulted in a couple of rounds of layoffs. Given that I was affected by one of those, my biased opinion is that some poor choices were made there. But I did think we'd been growing too fast the previous year, so some staffing cuts were not surprising or unwarranted.
