Great place to work, but you will wear many hats - Leasing Consultant Affinity Living Communities Employee Review

Pros

Affinity is essentially a subsidiary of Axis Residential, which is genuinely a great company to work for. It is a smaller and newer company, which means that there are only about 4-5 degrees of separation between an entry level professional and the ownership of the company, and I always felt like my work and my input were valued by multiple levels of management. This is a great entry level job because you will "wear many hats," which allows you to get a lot of experience if you're just starting out in sales/property management/senior services. I thought the pay was good and the benefits were great (medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401(k), etc.). If you really like working with people and doing a job where you feel like you make a difference each day, this is a great job. Since it is senior living, the residents are really active in the community and you will not only do leasing and sales, but also event planning and resident retention and relationship-building. Affinity communities are not assisted living, and they are clean, vibrant, and fun places to work. As a Leasing Consultant, you will report to the Community Director and work alongside the Assistant Community Director, which is a plus for people who like to build a strong work relationship with a team. Axis Residential and Affinity are really big on company culture, and they do a good job with it.

Cons

This job can be more demanding than you might expect, as you will "wear many hats" and likely have responsibilities not only in leasing and sales, but also in marketing, property management, and event planning. Since the on-site team is only three people, it can be difficult to find time to take off for medical, travel, or personal time, though the company is liberal in their allotment of those hours. This is not a very flexible job, since you must be on-site from 8:30-5:30 for 5 days a week (or, if working Tues-Sat, 10:00-4:00 on Saturdays). The Leasing Consultant is expected to work on Saturdays, with Monday off. This can be a pro or con depending on lifestyle.

Pros

I’ve truly loved my experience working at Axis Residential. The team culture is something special — it’s supportive, collaborative, and full of people who genuinely care about each other. It makes coming to work enjoyable, even on the busiest days. Leadership is approachable and invested in the success of their teams. There’s a strong sense that you’re not just another number — your work is valued, and your voice matters. I’ve felt encouraged to grow in my role and continue developing professionally, which makes a big difference. This is a place where I can genuinely see myself long-term. I’m proud to be part of this company and excited about the direction it’s heading. It’s rare to find a workplace where you feel both supported and motivated, and Axis Residential has created that environment.

Cons

There really aren’t any major downsides. Occasionally, there can be minor communication gaps, likely due to the fast-paced nature of the business and the demands on leadership. It would be great to see more hybrid or remote opportunities as the company continues to grow.
