Pros

Work from home ONCE a week. Working here was the first time I experienced this and it is such a nice treat.

I have to say that the experience at this company has been the worst I've had in my career thus far. This is why: Starting off with leadership, my question is, where is it? I have never seen such sad excuses for people in charge who have no idea what they are doing. There are these claims that we have seniors and managers who are working hard. Who and where are these hard working people? What are they working hard on? They don't work here. What I can tell you is that the hourly employees are the work horses whose accomplishments are passed to seniors and above to make them look great. We have managers who've never managed a human being in their lives and it's quite obvious. This is a company that does "creative" work. We have not one "leader" in this entire company that is creative. It doesn't exist here, sorry. The creatives are the hourly team members who get overlooked to lead, because someone else kissed the right amount of butt to get the job. It's really sad. There is so much creative energy within the teams minus their "leaders". These "leaders" have very little skill set as a whole group. They just look good in public and that's a stretch as well. They are always leaning on their subordinates to make them look good. When they make mistakes subordinates get blamed for them. There is this weird thing when senior members make mistakes, they win company awards the next month. It's a very strange practice. This is not a creative company so if that is what you are looking for, I suggest you go to LinkedIn and Indeed and try again. They don't really advertise it but this a company that does marketing for apartments... yea. I will say that there are some really interesting and even fun apartments out there but working on them is a rarity. You usually are working on the dry, lame, over-priced, traditional apartments that no one cares about or will probably stay at. If you offer a suggestion to spice it up, denied. Again creativity and Agency FIFTY3- oxymoron. Let's talk about culture. This will be fun: This is a young company which is cool, at least I thought so when I started. The level of immaturity is stomach turning. When you think of young companies you probably believe the values of younger people are a part of the DNA of those companies right? Such as caring about the environment, inclusion, work life balance (more than 15 days off a year for PTO) Yea that's not the case here. Starting with the topic of diversity, equity, and inclusion, those are not things here. This company honestly looks like one created 10+ years ago but with younger faces and one predominant race. I'm sure you can guess what that is. Go look at the website picture of the team. The problem here is that if you are not white, male, or female, you're going to feel like the odd person out very quickly. There is gender diversity. There are lots of capable and talented female team members which is great but that follows the old idea of gender diversity. If you are neither male or female than you will also feel isolated. When you bring up the fact that diversity and inclusion could be better here, the entire white "leadership" team pushes back and makes statements that "diversity isn't about color, it's really about diversity of thought, that's the true meaning of diversity". Comments like that don't really sit well with a lot of us here. A little over a year ago, they brought in this white woman to talk to us about diversity and inclusion. The entire time she spoke she referred back to an earlier statement she made that age diversity and traditional gender diversity is all that matters. That didn't really sit well with many of us either. There is a one black person on the team a year employee quota. Literally every time they've had a black person on the team, they bring in a new one and fire the old one. They blame it on their performance. It's an interesting point to make that the black employees are making such egregious mistakes that they get fired. While the white employees who make mistakes get promotions and shallow employee of the month awards. The "leadership" team comprises of people who are bullies you must bow down to in order to be looked at positively. If not and you have an opinion due to your expertise, be ready to be fired or intimidated to the point of resigning. The "leadership" of the company is very much like the "leadership" running the country. Full of people who are clueless, useless, and very unqualified. Let's talk about work: Creative: design team is full of talented people but that's where the talent stops. It's honestly like a sweatshop over. They oversell to make money but the team members don't get any of it. Digital: another slave department with unqualified people leading it. You do way more work than the industry standard, for pay that is close to poverty. Social: this department is led by what is said to be experts (pure comedy) when the team members are the ones with the real experience. Influencers and such make up the team but they are told they aren't doing a good job. Prior to this pandemic, we were hiring people and bringing them on week after week because we had so many clients. Clients are a good thing to have, however it doesn't make sense to just hire people every time a new project comes because, what happens when things go south? Oh I know, you see people get fired/laid off or you get threatened that your job is on the line. Fun way to build a working environment right? Everyone is told that they make $19.50/hr starting but as we watched more people come in, that couldn't be further from the truth. Regardless of your qualifications educational, experiential and otherwise, the pay doesn't change. If you are a black prospective employee- watch out If you are a person who doesn't fit into the traditional gender norms- watch out If you are a person who is religious and that is a part of your life and you make reasonable requests to be accommodated - watch out If you don't like working around a bunch of unprofessional alcoholics who cross the line all the time- watch out If you complain about the very white, bro, alcoholic culture because you feel it is grossly unprofessional- watch out If you are a creative who wants to be uplifted and inspired- FLY AWAY

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience. It certainly doesn't seem to align with what we regularly hear from our employees. We take great pride in being a very welcoming, yet fully transparent company. We are open to constant feedback from all levels of the company and strive to make FIFTY3 an environment where anyone can be proud to grow their career

Pros

Awesome benefits package, flexible work environment, work alongside some of the most positive, talented, and fun people ever. Work and projects are constantly changing so if you thrive in that type of environment, this is a great place for you.

Cons

Went through some pretty harsh changes over the last few years which had an impact on culture and morale. Slowly gaining footing again and establishing a new and better culture and identity for the agency. Compensation can be on the lower end of market average but still pretty fair.
