If you want to balance life and work, but trade off career advance this is your place. Most of the people are well intentionated and HR look for your familiy balance. HR really tries hard to promote diversity and social activitites. Job Security--> besides the current downturns from financial crisis Air Products and Chemicals is well known to be secure employer. People rarly get fire even if the outperform...in other words, once you are in ( headquarter only) you can have a good time, work little, make friends and be sure to have a salary. Cons
First of all its location and culture.... PA dutch culture is within the company... no change or speed therefore few exitment. Speed--> decisiions at all levels have to be made by group rather than individuals with power.. so you have to learn how to be sensitive with EVERYONE even if the business decision is obvious. Excitment--> Most top excecutives/ managers are looking for their retirements and trend to postpone decisions, or avoid innovative approaches. If you enter APD you have to acknowledge to be in the same position for a while .. it doesnt matter how hard or good job you do... you would need to be 10 years before getting a level of responsability . Only exeption will be if you are a former Navy in finance
