Pros

Prior to 2023: Career progression prospects, fantastic culture, great pay, great work-life balance. Post 2023: Pay.

Cons

Started off being the best company I worked for when I joined back in 2021. January 2023 when they laid off 20% of the company is when things went downhill. Turned into a corporate hell, with unrealistic sales expectations and an extremely toxic and unhealthy culture and work environment. Didn't know a single person who was happy there. The only reason this review is a 2/5, is because the company was a 5/5 prior to the layoffs. It's a shame that they decided to flush the culture down the drain and turn into a soul-less corporate machine.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's clear you had a very different Aiven experience before and after 2023, and I'm truly sorry to hear that the shift was negative for you. It's disheartening to read that what you once considered the best company you'd worked for became a place you felt was "toxic" and "unhealthy." We absolutely don't want anyone to feel that way, and hearing this feedback is crucial for us. The 2023 layoffs were undoubtedly a difficult time for Aiven, and it's evident that the impact went far beyond the immediate changes. We're aware that shifts like that can deeply affect culture and morale, and we're actively working to rebuild and strengthen Aiven for the future. Your advice to "treat your employees better" resonates deeply. We are committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment where everyone feels valued. We're taking your words to heart and using them to drive improvements in how we support and engage our team. Thank you again for your honest feedback. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Ed Director, Talent & People Experience

Pros

Decent salary, good international travel opportunities, interesting and kind colleagues

Cons

Executive leadership has no vision or appetite to stick to a plan. Despite hiring many people with the experience and skillset to win, leadership routinely ignores advice from within the house, over-commits to half-baked plans, assigns the wrong people to tasks, and then is unwilling to take accountability for continuously failing to deliver anything new.
