Pros

Alaco was a really enjoyable company to work for, especially having just left university. The work was interesting and challenging, ranging from due diligence projects across the former Soviet states to investigations in Europe and the Middle East. It was quite tough at first but became more manageable once I had been through the training and completed a few different projects. I was surrounded by bright linguists in their 20s and 30s who did a great job showing me the ropes when I was starting out. As I progressed, the work continued to be varied, challenging and interesting. I travelled to several countries on assignment and established solid working relationships with internal directors as well as subcontractors and, occasionally, clients. It was also a fun place to work, with regular work socials and meals to celebrate the successful completion of projects in addition to personal and company-wide achievements.

Cons

Occasionally one had to navigate tricky office politics and tight work schedules, although this did not seem to be any more problematic than at most other firms. Bonuses could be good but base salaries, especially for new employees, could be improved.

Good standards of investigative work, creative, productive atmosphere, good variety of cases.

Cons

No room for growth, heavily dominated from the top. Some toxicity amongst senior members of staff. Pay is low.
