Unprofessional and toxic workplace, graduates STAY AWAY! - Founder Alacrity Foundation Employee Review

Pros

Programme has a stipend and can help potential entrepreneurs teams create a startup through funding and networks. Without doubt the other founders are likely the most positive part of the programme as they are generally great to get along. The knowledge and potential contacts introduced throughout the programme is good, but can be better. The programme is indeed a challenging one as it should be but many of these issues or challenges should not occur (see below).

Cons

Where to start...? The staff from the management side say one thing and do the complete opposite. They lie to your face to benefit themselves or their inner circle. The atmosphere gradually turns toxic when mistrust is developed between founders under their influence. Also the CEO tends to snap at people and brags about people he "fired" for whatever reason. This programme is suppose to encourage and build tech startups yet majority of staff are not from technical backgrounds and fail to understand or recognise any issues from a technical founders perspective. For the techical side, you are limited to certain web tech languages, which may affect you long term if you're looking to be a technical developer. For the business side, the opportunities and contacts are generally not from big industries, or teams with high demand projects just...."nice to haves". Much of the talented founders leave at some point which is hardly surprising from what I have learnt about what has happened throughout the course. So to the graduates out there looking to join Alacrity, I strongly suggest at this time you find a different graduate programme in industry or another startup programme unless you want to be a lamb to the slaughter, you have been warned!
