The Journal has some serious issues - Reporter Albuquerque Journal Employee Review

Pros

If you are lazy, this is the perfect job for you. if you do not have much experience or skills or talent, that's ok as long as you are a white male.

Cons

The majority of the editors at the Journal have never worked as reporters and do not know how to edit reporters who have more reporting experience than they do. This is an extremely hostile atmosphere to minorities. White staffers calling a black reporter a cotton picker, and a white male making a racist and sexist joke in a staff meeting about a black woman in her presence was not taken particularly seriously, with the HR office telling the complaining that the racist comment was "just a joke." The hourly pay for a woman with 5 years reporting experience and a MA in Journalism, a published book, years of teaching journalism at the college level, was seventeen dollars per hour, the same a student who had a full time job there and was about to graduate from college.
