Pros

Location is great if you live in Fort Worth or Burleson. Cafeteria and fitness center are wonderful. Campus is kept clean. If you work for Alcon, you can have confidence that the products are high quality and worth standing by.

Cons

Where to start. I was told when I became pregnant that I needed to choose whether I wanted a baby or a career at Alcon, because you can't have a family and be successful there. There is vertually no training in the finance department, which leaves room for costly mistakes that management is ok with covering up. A professional audit would reveal these mistakes. The environment is extremely unprofessional and unethical. Racial and sexual slurs are made constantly, and gossip is a daily event. If you work in finance, prepare to be underpaid and overworked, unless you are one of the top few employees. If that is you, you will work ridiculous hours while they throw money at you to convince you to stay there, even though you are completely miserable and never see your family. Raises are a joke. While the company tries to tell you that they cannot afford raises over 2%, know that they are giving $25,000 bonuses to everyone above you, at a minimum.

Cons

Working here makes me want to unalive myself daily. It's a typical corporate environment with lots of rules and processes that do nothing for efficiency or production and are only applied to women, minorities, or high performers that carry the team but don't have the right anatomy, look, or last name for promotions and growth. But don't worry, if you have a family connection and absolutely no skills or intellect and like to schmooze but hate work you'll probably get promoted often and rapidly. Working here over the last several years has truly drained any previous ambition I entered the workplace with. The lack of work life balance and low pay contributes to a slow descent into a sloth like existence because I can no longer afford to do outside activities and barely pay my bills, and when I do have free time it's typically interrupted by some arbitrary coworker crash out over a minor inconvenience. I find myself taking on bad health habits to make it end sooner and because you'll need to conform to being chained to your desk and sitting at your desk at least 8 hours of the day to last. bathroom breaks-ha who needs those!
