Pros

Quality of health care provided at Alder Hey to children Equality & Diversity Sense of humour of staff

Cons

Doesn't feel like it's working as a cohesive whole. Back-biting, politics and in-fighting. Staff taken for granted, asked to do more and more work with no extra money. Lack of communication. Bosses know where to find you when they want something doing, other than that, you can forget it.

Pros

A rewarding and humbling experience that provides an insight into the hospital's ecosystem. Interviewing process was fairly easy. Upon completing a 6-week probationary period, you have the chance to volunteer on the patient wards (assuming you are aged 18+), where you can build a routine and create a friendly atmosphere for the patients and their families.

Cons

The recruitment process is lengthy (application - recruitment event - references - online training - ID appointment - induction event). The time taken from the recruitment event to my first shift totalled to approximately 6 months, but this time may be shortened depending on availability on both ends.
