Pros
The salary is not that bad for a store. However, I had a part time contract but since they "can't" hire more people, I was asked if I could do extra hours (40h per week). With a part time contract I was receiving almost as much as when I worked full time (they pay the extra hours, as they should. I'm not going to praise them for doing the bare minimum (pay for extra hours).
Cons
It is a huge monopoly with the manager of the Aveiro store. No one, I repeat, no one can be promoted to manager of that store because no matter what she does "she gets results". If the results are mistreating the employees and not having a fixed team because everyone always ends up quitting, is considered results, okay, she gets work done. I spoke with HER MANAGER, which means someone who could do something for me and my coworkers, someone that is above her, and nothing was done. And it has been like that for years. The pressure that it is to work there. You could be doing the most that it wasn't going to be recognized. We were simply numbers and thet cared about values, and values only. We had meetings with the CEO of Ale-Hop Portugal. He really embodied what a leader was supposed to be. He cares for his coworkers and sees costumers as more than just costumers. But that vision wasn't at all embodied by the stores' managers. The company Ale-Hop in Portugal, has this core value of "have fun in work, life is supposed to be fun. If we spend so much time working, we should make the most of it and enjoy ourselves". Really nice and all but it is a scam. For coworkers looks like a dictatorship. My ex manager wasn't a leader at all. At the very least, she was an employee who could sell. But at the cost of the team's wellbeing and positive workplace environment.
