Hard Work, but high pay and chance for promotion - Sales Manager Alexander Open Systems Employee Review

Pros

I am a current employee and have worked at AOS since 2009. I have had the pleasure to work with some amazing people and make large amounts of money in various sales positions. Many people were skeptical (myself included) after we eliminated our presence in Oklahoma and Texas (it created many negative reviews on Glass Door, and led to the departure of our CEO at the helm during this period). The good news is that most employees are very excited about the new CEO, and feel that AOS has got its groove back. In the Kansas / Missouri region, the morale has greatly improved and people are really happy with the new compensation plan.

Cons

Need to hire a new trainer for the gym (I think this was eliminated with the regional cuts of 2016) Lack of work from home culture Need to bring back the Cabo trips

Working as an engineer you get flexibility without micromanaging. Lots of hardworking people at AOS, but also a very relaxed working environment

Cons

Onboarding process can be improved.

Pros

Worked with some of the best Design Architects and Sales VP in the industry. Had the ability to gain incredible knowledge in a short amount of time. Everyone who was in the trenches were very supportive of each other as we were facing a huge challenge. There were some great partnerships with forward thinking, innovative companies and it was exciting to have those in the portfolio.

Cons

No focus. Came at the market with out understanding that the "old school" mentality of sales does not work and will not work any more, especially in this market. As it is was proven. Account Managers were constantly held to unrealistic expectations and felt beat down to "sell more" AOS took on too many different partners and never seemed to have a focus on what it wanted to be. Although some of the partners were truly innovative and unique to AOS. There was never a unification of what our over all focus was. Taking away the momentum that was being built in a 15 minute warning to get on a mandatory call was disappointing to say the least. Especially after being told over and over that everything was ok.
