Pros

At present there are no pros

Cons

I’d worked for the company for 5 years and had to resign for the betterment of my mental health due to an manager they brought in. I raised a grievance with HR who dismissed my grievance as lack of communication because he lied in his grievance investigation meeting. HR didn’t investigate further as to why there was a difference between my statement and his even though there were 4 witnesses so I appealed the grievance. They waited till I left the company and then just started ignoring all of my emails regarding the grievance appeal so I’ve had to go to the employment tribunal. That is only the tip of the iceberg. They give promotions to whoever they like the most and don’t advertise those promotion positions to give everyone a fair chance. They didn’t offer a pay rise in the 21/22 calendar year even though the company hit 140% of target and also when the cost of living in the UK was increasing exponentially. They expect you to use your own mobile phone to make calls to brokers and clients because they use Microsoft teams for phone calls but teams doesn’t allow you to make external phone calls. Their salary packages are probably the lowest paying in the insurance industry and they never review salaries. When the CEO was asked how he plans to make the board more diverse he said “we do not have time for fancy things” and justified having a diverse board by bringing on a Portuguese male and 1 white female

Pros

Good benefits, hybrid work arrangement is flexible (you can choose your 3 days in office)

Cons

Tenure and friendship is valued more than actual skillsets. Many people in Ops have no formal college education or true technical skills, and have been complacent in the dept for 10+ years. This leads to inefficient and stale processes that are reluctant to change. The culture is extremely passive aggressive and long-tenured employees are not welcoming to new hires from outside of the organization. People will go out of their way to sabotage opportunities for those offering new perspectives with greater value add. This causes forced interactions with low value collaboration. Many in analytical roles do not even understand basic Microsoft Office skills, Excel functions, V/XLOOKUPS, etc. and data is often reviewed manually per line item… This company is run like a low budget mom and pop shop where inefficient and backwards practices are toxically in circulation.
