Pros

Great perks, company car selection and the rates of pay are reasonable. You plan your own working week which can have fantastic advantages due to the flexibility this gives. Fantastic job security with the company being one of the largest in the world. Bonus scheme which pays out every year. Yearly pay increases.

Cons

The company is highly target driven, you often find yourself rushing to get inspections done and hit your targets. You have a minimum contracted hours of 35 inclusive of travel, however, you can rarely achieve all tasks a week throws at you in 35 hours and you often feel pushed to work 40 or more hours in a salary based role where these hours generally go unaccounted for. They rely on a lot of good will from the surveyors to achieve everything required. Progression is limited and not adequately compensated, more senior positions offer a small salary increase in exchange for the expectation of many unpaid hours each week. Training is in house with very few if any industry standard qualifications or training offered. Senior management have little idea about the real world day to day life of a surveyor and many have never surveyed, instead judge based on data from spreadsheets. Pay increases can be declined at managers discretion sited to “performance” or spreadsheet data.

Pros

Good benefits, hybrid work arrangement is flexible (you can choose your 3 days in office)

Cons

Tenure and friendship is valued more than actual skillsets. Many people in Ops have no formal college education or true technical skills, and have been complacent in the dept for 10+ years. This leads to inefficient and stale processes that are reluctant to change. The culture is extremely passive aggressive and long-tenured employees are not welcoming to new hires from outside of the organization. People will go out of their way to sabotage opportunities for those offering new perspectives with greater value add. This causes forced interactions with low value collaboration. Many in analytical roles do not even understand basic Microsoft Office skills, Excel functions, V/XLOOKUPS, etc. and data is often reviewed manually per line item… This company is run like a low budget mom and pop shop where inefficient and backwards practices are toxically in circulation.
