Pros
Values employees and keeping staff educated and up to date on protocols and policies with plenty of CE opportunities. CEO truly cares about his company, those working for him, and providing excellent EMS. Management is great and is always there to answer questions; they are concise and don’t make you feel stupid. This company is great for beginner EMTs who need IFT and soft 911/scene call experience. They allow you to upgrade to ALS (every EMT starts off as BLS) within 60 days after you take new hire academy. There are multiple opportunities to move up the ladder. I also love how clean the company cares about keeping the rigs. In short, AlphaOne sets you up for success.
Cons
Pay is low. Most shifts and calls are BLS/IFTs but you can still see some cool things when you upgrade to ALS. That being said, it can be hard to get a shift on ALS, it is something you have to “bid” on. Still don’t have a 911 contract but hopefully in the future. Some days can be super slow and others busy; not something against the company itself. Few coworkers and partners can be hard to get along with but that’s life.
