Pros
I learned a lot about sewing and how to alter my own clothes which has been great 95% of the women that work here are first generation immigrant women and so there is so many different cultures to be surrounded by ALONG by the fact that the location I worked in was all females-and there is something so safe about that.
Cons
It is an emotionally abusive workspace filled with first-generation women that are used by the higher ups. A workplace filled with no guidelines-one day this is the right thing to do and the next you're being yelled at for it. Steamers and irons that don't work properly and the owner that doesn't "want to hear about them anymore". Sketchy pay issues and overall weird behaivor from the higher ups. There's a clear divide from the owners (family owned and operated... of course), they don't communicate well with the branches and always seem to be annoyed when they have to. They refuse to give the managers of their locations an assistant which means some managers are managing the team of seamstresses, managing the team of fitters, sewing WEDDING GOWNS (CRAZY INTRICATE AND TIME CONSUMING?!?!?!) working with customers, measuring them in fitting rooms, answering calls, answering so many questions AND they still have to fufill manager duties. that is too much for one person to handle. Anyway, if you want to learn to sew, take a class or watch a bunch of youtube videos, don't waste your time, tears, mental energy and blood (from being stabbed daily by pins) here.
