Pros

Remote working option, which offers flexibility. Fridays are generally half-day, which is a good thing.

Cons

Toxic Management and Poor Team Dynamics: My reporting manager (Jafelyn Wong - Beware of her) consistently micromanaged, often speaking over me during meetings and failing to listen to concerns raised. Feedback was rarely constructive and more often dismissive, sometimes even belittling in front of the team. I was told early in my tenure that I wasn’t a fit for the role, even before adequate training or onboarding was completed. Unstructured and Ineffective Onboarding: Training was rushed, overly technical, and lacking in product or business context. Key onboarding sessions were poorly explained, with language and communication gaps that were never acknowledged. The expectation to "just pick things up" created immense pressure without proper support. Discrimination and Groupism: It was evident that there was a strong preference towards the Malaysian team members. Suggestions from Indian team members were scrutinized more heavily, whereas the same ideas from others were instantly accepted. Manager once explicitly mentioned having bad experiences with Indians in the past, which reflected in biased treatment. Lack of Empathy and Support: The environment was not psychologically safe to ask questions or raise issues. My manager frequently dismissed concerns, claiming she had already explained things, even when clarification was needed. I often felt set up for failure – being expected to deliver on vague or changing requirements without support. Poor HR Support: HR (Sunita) was unresponsive during multiple escalations, including emails dated September 12 and March 4 regarding training gaps and inappropriate behavior by the manager. No meaningful action was taken to address repeated concerns, even after formal meetings and escalation to senior leadership. Culture of Blame, Not Learning: Mistakes were treated as personal shortcomings, not opportunities for team improvement. Even after stories were reviewed by the Product Owner and Senior BA, the manager continued to nitpick irrelevant points. Dev team refused to work without mockups even for simple text changes, leading to bottlenecks and blame games. Final Thoughts: Altrata is potentially a good place for highly independent, technically strong developers. However, for business analysts or professionals who value mentorship, structured onboarding, respectful communication, and inclusive leadership, the AAA team – under its current management – is not a healthy or supportive environment.

Pros

market leader and product does have differentiators

Cons

A lot of change and shift of focus has caused significant turnover. Both layoffs and voluntary. There is no longer an exec team and business is run by PE firm calling shots.
