Pros
Ability to see that you can indirectly positively affect a paramedics working ability on a technical level. The staff are great to work with because they are all in the same leaky boat and understand that.
Cons
Understanding that 90% of the business is reactive does not justify why the other 10% must be. As an ICT administration staff member my job is to be as proactive as possible however management reject ideas due to many reasons some of those being "too difficult to understand", "too scared to make change", "I'm comfortable in my seat, don't go rocking the boat". The CEO is only interested in his blue shirts and never acknowledges the hard work from the administration staff (unless they are management of course). AV management never accept responsibility and accountability, never communicate, punish when you drive innovation and working together is forbidden. These are actually the 5 values the CEO likes to use when he needs to make a point, the point being do as I say not as I do. AV is a heavy operational business where if you are a paramedic you can move into administration however someone like me was interested in moving into operations and told honestly not to do it as I would set precedence that any dumb monkey can do their off road jobs. Money is a joke the administration union have no balls to fight for their staff and once again unless you are a blue shirt don't expect a career in this company.
