Pros
Pay is good. Small perks such as monthly massages were nice.
Cons
Complete lack of transparency about workplace expectations and what they call "after hours" work. On the social work team you are expected to be on call 24/7 even on weekends and during PTO; this means answering calls/texts within 1-2hrs at ALL times. If you work on a weekend you have to get approval to take that time off in the future and are expected to work as long as there are items on your to do list. There is little to no work/life balance. You are expected to be in the office during working hours 8-5 and then also do additional work as it arises after hours. The training process is very poor and quick. They cram a bunch of information in at once and expect you to start working a caseload right away. If you ask the same question more than once they roll their eyes at you or make a comment about how you should know it. There is no grace period, if they do not like you or your performance they will let you go immediately. It is often mentioned that "no one has gotten fired for that" when you make a specific mistake--which festers a walking on eggshells atmosphere as you know the threat of termination is always present. There is no specific trainer and they put the person who is supposed to run the whole program in charge of training when she is out of touch with the job responsibilities and has an entirely separate workload that is prioritized so you don’t get needed support. There is NO emphasis or education on Diversity, LGBQ+ practices, or other standard HR trainings that exist in the social welfare field. They don't even have an HR dept and if you make complaints to the person who serves as HR you are retaliated against. It is highly discouraged for staff to spend time in co-workers' offices and you are given dirty looks for socializing and venting. Their in-office practices, technology, and belief system is from the 80's and they insist that you always speak positively about the job or get out. It is truly the most toxic workplace culture I have ever experienced, and they are constantly understaffed and overworked. They state that they are a non-profit but that is a lie that they use to make excuses for their decisions and make it seem like they are doing a good deed. Management makes inappropriate comments in supervision and office wide e-mails and is completely out of touch. The pay is great but is definitely NOT WORTH IT. I ignored the negative reviews I saw on Glassdoor, please don’t do the same!
