Pros
One of few positives with regards to working at AG is the staff discount. There were large reductions on the majority of products there. However, the discount on the more well known golf brands such as Ping, Taylormade and Teitleist was to say the least poor.
Cons
Where do I start? Terrible pay which was and still stands at minimum wage even for full time staff. An awful commission structure which gave employees no motivation to sell more products. Progression in the company was pretty much non existent unless you lived off minimum wage for 10 years just to become a third key holder. Holidays were so hard to get off because every shop was always 'short staffed' which is completely unacceptable. If a company cant afford to have staff to cover holidays then despite what the balance sheet says, it is not being ran efficiently. All staff have half an hour lunch which If you wanted a quick break you had to take the time out of that half an hour. 9 hours on your feet and you get half an hour break? ludicrous. And if you actually took the full half an hour managers had the audacity to ask you to hurry up and eat your lunch faster because customers were waiting. Also, lets not forget the insane targets that were set daily. I found nothing more patronising than to be sat down in the office everyday to be lectured on how to improve my items per basket. If a customer wants one item I am not going to sell them three to hit my target. That is what you call mindless consumerism and I will not promote it. Lets no forget the disgraceful zero hour contracts that AG use. I hope they will be illegal soon so that no company can treat employees with so little respect. How can anyone seek to enjoy a life when they don't know whether they have 5 hours one week or 40 the next? I could go on and on but im only doing this so that the people I worked with will hopefully get more respect for all the hard work they put in to line the directors pockets of this awful company.
