Pros

Helping the population served is a wonderful opportunity. This position will teach any nurse so much about how to beat serve vulnerable populations. Positive stars are specifically for the clinical and humanistic learning opportunities.

Cons

The management was and from what I hear still is not understanding at all of how difficult the job is. They are chronically understaffed to a dangerous degree. There is no security, so you're on a locked, understaffed unit with a lot of people with violent histories who are intoxicated. It is not safe and when you bring up safety concerns or feelings overworked because of understaffing, or that due to understaffing the patients are not getting safe care, they will do anything to verbally soothe you but generally don't take complaints seriously or make changes.
