      The people you work with are the best part along with contributing to the important work that the org does.

      Cons

      Not great nonprofit pay. Wish the org was more transparent with staff about the state of the org. If you are in a member facing role the members can get aggravating.

      Pros

      95% of ALA staff are delightful to work with. The other 5% are working too hard to be delightful. Libraries fill real needs in communities so it's easy to get behind the mission.

      Cons

      95% of ALA members are delightful to work with. The other 5% are oddly power hungry and exhibitionist.

      Employees build a great community. A lot of people have worked there for decades. Benefits are top notch and hard to beat.

      Cons

      Low pay, members can be very demanding, not a lot of support.
