Pros

Few pros once the negatives are recognized.

Cons

American Structurepoint touts diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as part of their core values, but they are mere buzzwords. Company leadership believes DEI is not not a human rights matter and rather claims it to be tied to political and social agendas. Females companywide are paid less and treated as less than their male counterparts. No efforts for improvement are made when leadership and/or HR are alerted of blatant inequality. Females have been leaving the company at an alarming rate due to this issue (among other issues). The company has no respect for employees' lives outside of work. Five hours of minimum overtime is listed on all offer letters. If an employee is not putting in a minimum of five hours of overtime, they are seen as not doing enough for the company and told they need to work more. Employees are expected to be on-call at all hours of the day and asked to drop anything they may be doing at any given moment if leadership contacts them outside of standard work hours. This includes being expected to work while on vacation. There is a disregard for transparency and internal communication as the company will post job openings without notifying existing employees first. This leaves staff blindsided and undervalued, hinders career progression, and erodes trust within the team. In addition, new employees are regularly hired at significantly higher wages than seasoned staff despite having the same or very similar job responsibilities. High-performing employees are punished by receiving workload that other employees are not capable of handling. Compensation is not adjusted for taking on additional work and training others. Annual reviews are not designed to encourage growth, but rather to criticize and belittle employees. Employees are reprimanded for bringing up concerns in reviews that may reflect poorly on management. You are required to provide your completed review paperwork to management well in advance of your review so they have time to come up with rebuttals for any items you list. You are asked to rate yourself using a 1-5 scale on various items and management without fail will rate you less than you rate yourself as part of belittling you. If you rate yourself a 5 on any items, you are told to redo your paperwork and/or told that 5’s are not attainable and cannot be selected. Years of hard work and loyalty given to the company are meaningless. Leadership will try to guilt/shame you for leaving and/or stop communicating with you completely upon submitting your resignation. They do not truly value their employees as people and it is evident and quite frankly disheartening.

Pros

Great family culture and flexible employer

Cons

For the amount of fieldwork that I do, it would be nice to have a work vehicle. Other than tha, no complaints.

Pros

This place has a diverse profile with lots of interesting projects. Depending on how the company is doing financially, they will match 100% of retirement account deposits, that's a really good benefit. It's been 100% since I've been here. The management in my office is very good; talented, hands on, not overbearing, yet helpful when you need it. The pay scale is great. I get the impression that they really do care about their employees and the work\life balance.

Cons

Of course profitability is the most important factor. You can't run a successful business without being profitable. At times I feel like there's too much pressure to get invoices out and stress on getting things done quickly. Not that they want to compromise quality, but they do stress taking on a lot of projects at once and doing them quickly. Not necessarily a con, just something I struggle with. I feel like the accounting department is a bit lacking and I'd prefer vacation balances reload at the beginning of each year rather than slowly accumulate.
