Great mission. Completely dysfunctional - Growth and Mobilization Project Manager Amnesty International Employee Review

Pros

In terms of its mission it is truly one of the most inspiring and important places anyone with a social conscience could want to work.

Cons

People promoted based on their passion for human rights do not good managers make! That, coupled with an outdated 'us and them' mentality on the part of the staff 'union' make this a very unpleasant place to work. Add to that a slow and bureaucratic decision-making process, driven (in the loosest sense of the term) by the 'movement' (also an oxymoron in the context) mean Amnesty is too often slow and ineffective and lacking credibility on one of the most important issues faced by so many millions of people in the world.

Pros

It was great. Working with mission-driven individuals is always a great motivator. Everyone was pleasant to work with.

Cons

None. Everything that was stated in the JD is what I got and experienced.
