Pros

I have had the pleasure of working for Amphora Group for over eight years. In my career I have to say that this is the first company that I have worked for that actually realizes that the employees have families and obligations outside of work. They are extremely flexible with employees if they need to modify their schedule to meet an obligation outside of work. For example when one of my family members was ill, I was allowed to work a completely different schedule to meet both my family and work obligations. Most companies are not this flexible or understanding. This company although large in scale has a family feel. Employees are encouraged to share their thoughts and professional expertise to develop procedures and products to enhance operations and offerings to customers. There is a lot of room for growth in this company where they have two bakery store fronts, two restaurants and a full scale catering department. If you are looking for an environment that nurtures creativity and are not scared of hard work, this is the right choice. This is a high volume high quality bakery that sets the bar high for professional standards. They are willing to work with you to get your skills to the expected level that the customers are used to.

Cons

This company can be too patient with people who just do not belong. They are willing to work with employees, believing that they will make strides to improve. Sometimes the employee does not respond with the opportunity to improve even with significant coaching. This can hold back the rest of the team if they are negative and toxic. Not everyone is meant to work in the food service industry, and a hourly office job might be a better fit, especially if you are trying to sneak excessive cell phone/texting/computer use when management is not looking.

Pros

Creativity is welcomed. Coworkers band together to navigate the hellish environment until they find a new job.

Cons

Management is the worst! The business is family owned and run by bullies. Working here was so bad that it gave me PTSD. I literally had to seek therapy after the mental abuse I suffered at the hands of the directors. I was constantly yelled at and working insane amounts of overtime. My paychecks would bounce on a regular basis yet one of the Amphora family directors, would brag about her clothing shopping sprees. Amphora completely ignores that employees must be paid first. It’s appalling that one of the reviews claimed that Amphora is “too generous” with some people. What a joke! No person should be working 60-70 hours a week and not get paid for it. That’s slave labor, not generosity! Any good review posted here is bogus. If there is a good review, it’s either posted by a member of the Amphora family, one of their friends, or an employee who was pressured by management to write a review. Unless you enjoy being treated like garbage on a daily basis, I urge you to seek work elsewhere.
