Not Worth It - Wouldn't Recommend to Anyone - Interior Designer Amtab Manufacturing Employee Review

Pros

1. Competitive salary 2. Nice benefits after being with the company for some time 3. Decent PTO

Cons

1. Unrealistic deadlines - Team expects major projects to be completed from start to finish within days (ie. less than a week) with consequences falling on you if you do not meet this deadline. - Blame will be put on interior designer regardless if it was a late client response, an issue with another team member, technical issues, etc. - Working overtime is often expected to reach deadlines, but no compensation for overtime is offered. 2. Lack of Management - The "senior" designers on the management team are all less than five years out of college and have little to no management experience. - Most of the management team throughout the company is either related or are family friends. The expectations of these workers are vastly different than those that have no personal relation to the team. - Design management does not review performance to help designers learn or address issues, they simply tally your revisions and missed deadlines into an excel sheet ranked by mistakes and errors. 3. No job security - The interior design team was constantly under stress and threatened with termination instead of the opportunity to learn or grow. - Constant turnover, always hiring and firing. Management will hire to put out more work during the busy season and let go of employees during the slow season.

Pros

Basically none. Option for remote depending on role.

Cons

The design teams are run by incompetent people who couldn't cut it in a real design role so they ended up shifting their way into being hapless at managing employees, timelines, and communication. There is very little meaningful design-thinking going on here. Projects are completely aimless because this company is incompetent at getting information from the client. Likely because that side of thing is run by sales who don't understand how design works. The company could easily put someone with a brain in those meetings but they choose not to. The company owner pushes religious propaganda and pseudo intellectual business literature.
