Pros

Good pay, benefits, travel and other perks.

Cons

While I sit here about to lose my home, my car, my pets, my savings and in desperate need of medical, dental and even food. I think its important that people know what really goes on at a mangers level. The abuse of power, the constant bullying, the daily threats, can make someone physically ill. Amtrak's toxic work environment usually begins at the Superintendant level and works its way down to managers, supervisors, either through negligence or lack of character and integrity, usually stemming from a naive discounting of the importance of how employees are treated. What I have witnessed over the years about managers. Widespread anger and frustration Workplace bullying from managers/supervisors takes place daily Scapegoats are always written up blamed for something they did not do Dysfunctional relationships with their employees Obvious hypocrisy Nepotism Overly restrictive systems Incompetent supervisors & managers Writes up employees for everything to use at a later date. ...and the list goes on.

Pros

Great friends and Travel with plenty to see

Cons

The culture is horrible it’s a very demeaning please. They will fire you for anything. Harassment amongst employees and by management to their employees Is extremely high. I have a MBA degree and I still can not move above the customer service level. I’m a union member and you have to pay union dues to work a non management position. The union Reps work for Amtrak to so there is a conflict of interest. The union is TCU in which they defend the company 100x harder than they do their members. TCU is not organized very well. The pay is fairly well but after union dues in medical and taxes are withdrawn your net income makes it look like you are making at least 15 to 17 an hr. As far as Work culture at Amtrak it is fueled by many rumors and those rumors are more affluent then your resume .
