Pros

Analog Photonics is an exceptional company with a strong technological foundation. Its optical phased arrays are unique in the industry, supported by a dynamic team that focuses on serving a select group of large customers. The company’s technology has applications across a wide range of sectors, including autonomous driving, robotics, free-space communications, wind energy, and security. The team comprises highly talented and motivated engineers who are empowered to advance the technology. This is an excellent environment for employees who want to take ownership and thrive in a fast-paced industry. Analog Photonics is financed through R&D and non-recurring engineering (NRE) contracts, and has been consistently profitable throughout its history. Unlike venture-funded startups that typically need to raise capital every one to two years, the company maintains strong financial stability, providing a more secure foundation for long-term growth.

Cons

You have to be self motivated

Pros

The company is doing cutting-edge R&D in all areas of silicon photonics, so it is a great place to work to get real-world exposure to integrated photonics, integrated CMOS, laser design, III/V design, or system design. Working here is like working in an early Bell Labs. The employees are highly knowledgable, technically strong and great to work with, and it's the biggest strength of the company. The lab is also very well-equipped and the office is in a nice location in Seaport next to the ocean. Day-to-day work has always had lot of variety for me. Some days are doing simulations or design, other days are hand-on in the lab, or interacting with customers. I personally like the satisfaction of seeing a project go from a conceptual idea all the way to a working demonstration. It's a good place to work for photonics or electronics engineers.

Cons

Cutting edge R&D means lots of projects, also all work is on-site
