Pros
This was my first software job after graduating college, so I don't have a ton to compare to, but I found working at ASI to be quite enjoyable. I worked across quite a few teams over the years with many different developers and never had any issues, they have a good sense of who will be a good fit when hiring. Also I felt like my own time and desires for work-life balance were highly respected. Before COVID I really enjoyed the culture at my particular office. The company organized many social outings, as well as myself and coworkers doing things to make time around the office more enjoyable. Unfortunately that seemed to never recover after quarantine - however, I moved out of state and became full time remote eventually, so that may have improved.
Cons
Pay is not the most competitive Technology is not super up-to-date, a side effect of working with the government The nature of the work can be slow/meandering - the customers are not always great at figuring out what they want. There were plenty of times they asked for a beefy new feature, we would get months into developing it, then they'd just say "never mind, we don't want that anymore". Probably not the best place for someone looking for something fast paced, cutting edge, and exciting, but if your lifestyle supports more slow and steady then it can be a good match
