Pros

The Royal Mail staff are really friendly, really nice people to work with, they tell you when your break times is, and they supply you with gloves so that you don't hurt your hands, social distancing is not applied there at all when you are working with people on the factory floor...the induction is not really an induction training you just get straight into it, they just show you around and you get shown through a one-way system in and out of the factory floor. Royal Mail nice staff to work with. Met some nice people at the factory, but apply direct with Royal Mail not Angard staffing!

Cons

Angard staffing are exploiting workers and it simply cannot go on! When I was told I would be doing 7-2pm or 2pm -10pm for 4 days every week, I thought this would be great so I had applied and waited a month for the recruitment process to happen... but only to find out after starting on the first week that I am only getting assigned two shifts a week!? We are simply being assigned the shifts that Royal Mail staff are unable to do like 22:30- 6am in the morning or 5pm - 10pm. You then enquire about this and they are not very nice to you when you question them as they do not like to be challenged! They had given me the impression that I would be doing 7am – 2pm or 2pm – 10pm unfortunately this wasn't the case! You are supposed to have a phone call before your shift but you get a notification via joined- up instead, I have been commuting to and from Swindon which takes me an hour, you do not get a rota in advance so you have no idea what days you are working, you have no idea what times you will be working and so you get two hours notice or even 3 hours notice on the day last minute!? How is this system sustainable?! This should be made illegal as it is not right- for example I would be up all day like any normal person would then I would get a notification last minute saying 22:30-6am at 7pm in the evening so I would have been awake for all day to only find out that I'm getting night shift on the same day?!! So I had immediately thought why not bite the bullet and get on with it, it's only an induction to then find out that this is the way that they operate all the time!!! When I called them up to ask for shifts in advance they said that they have to distribute them to approx 50-100 other angard staff and that's just for the Swindon area!? They get shifts assigned to them via Royal Mail only on the actual day to whatever is available?! So you get nothing in advance?! You turn up in your casual work clothing i.e. plain t-shirt, jeans, comfy shoes like trainers etc, you are simply sorting out parcels which is fine, you get a physical work out which is fine for me, but you get lockers that don't lock as you are only "casual staff" not Royal Mail staff so you risk putting your stuff in the lockers hoping that no-one steals from it, so i had to put my car key and my phone in my pocket throughout the whole shift!! They couldn't guarantee whether your stuff will be safe or not?!! Oh and after doing 12 shifts your pay goes up from £8.71 an hour to £11.50 an hour. But once you have done your shifts your break time doesnt count in your pay and they take a certain percentage away from the hours that you have worked. Say you worked 8 hours they would only pay you for 6.30 hours!! Changing the hourly rate every payment Agency doesn’t making any effort to confirm real details about work for agency’s workers miscommunication between agency staff(office)
