Pros

Antea Group offers great flexibility in work load and type, and I think the company culture is great. My coworkers are amazing and the company seems really be investing in training employees for future leadership, though I haven't seen that entirely executed yet. There is definitely a challenging environment where people are asked to "step up to the plate." It seems like it would be very easy to avoid a stagnating career if one was determined to move up. I really appreciate a lot of things about my office, and the corporate culture. I feel like generally, employees are thought about and cared for, especially in comparison to other Environmental Consulting Companies. Antea Group is really working hard to get employee "buy in" on company culture. I also think that there will be a lot of future growth opportunities, and an ability to move both vertically in the company as well as laterally across market segments. There is a well developed and documented plan for moving up the corporate ladder with growth goals set for each stage.

Cons

Sometimes things get escalated more than is necessary, people have unnecessary freakouts about what is ultimately a small problem. I'm not sure if this is because of stress put on project managers by upper management, or if it is simply a personality thing but it can be very frustrating to talk down Project Managers when they are in a state of panic about a very small issue. Pay is not at all competitive, especially on the west coast. It makes it very difficult to consider working here long term when I am making less than half of what it would take to be comfortable "middle class" in the Silicon Valley, and as an hourly employee, only about 1.4X minimum wage in the area. This is really my biggest complaint. Also, while the annual effectiveness appraisals are great and thorough, it doesn't provide a lot of rapid growth opportunities, if you don't make it "up a level" in this year, you are stuck waiting another year before you will really be considered for promotion again.

Pros

You get to be exposed to a lot of different work if you fit in.

Cons

This company preaches health and safety, but as soon as you speak up, you get met with grief and questioning. Senior consultants and managers who have been with the firm for 20+ years defiantly forgot where they came from. They will remind you of how good you have it and how hard it was for them in the day.
