Pros

During my short tenure at McLagan I found the work challenging and fascinating (it was my first time in a client facing consulting role) and everyone in the team were friendly and helpful. Michael Oak and Michael Deeks were very easy to work for and gave me the freedom and flexibility to work on some interesting projects. I found Michael Deeks to be an approachable, non-hierarchical managing partner. Michael Oak was the Partner responsible for Pensions, Funds and Endowments and as my direct manager, I found him to be easy-going with a great mentoring attitude. McLagan has a great recognition program and a fast-paced career development program. So analysts are rewarded for great work and have quick progression through the ranks, getting a lot of great exposure to various client projects - which I'm sure would be appealing to those passionate to make their mark in consulting.

Cons

They could have better work-life balance, but since consulting work comes in peaks and troughs, it may just be the nature of a consulting business.

Pros

Clearly defined career ladder Exposure to a wide range of clients and projects.

Cons

Inconsistent team culture. Some teams feel clique-oriented, so it's difficult for new employees to integrate. Training can be limited, with a strong expectation to learn independently.
