Pros

Very nice people. Not bad offices

Cons

Very hierarchical and bureaucratic. At certain levels people are treated as tools, the hands of the organisation where interesting thought work is reserved for the ‘brains’ of the org, the higher arls. The rest are just blunt tools. High requirement to provide emotional labour to manage the emotions of the higher arls, they talk about boundaries but in reality you are actively encouraged to mold yourself around the team lead. Problem is some of the team leads shouldn’t really be managing people at all. Burnout and mental health issues widespread and just told to do some mindfulness rather than address the root causes. An unachievable hours target with so much time wasted due to the chasing culture where everything is important so therefore nothing is. In investment you are a hostage to the admins and everyone else’s timelines /little agency.

Pros

Good support and good people

Cons

Large company does mean that Tech/HR support usually involves an 800 number and call center.

Pros

Great role to transition into the insurance industry. Many resources and opportunities to expand technical knowledge. Client visits are great if you like to travel. Lucky to have a manager who doesn’t micromanage. If you’re organized, driven, and good at communicating you’ll do great.

Cons

Can be stressful at times around busy renewal cycles. Travel often depending on industry and clients.
