Pros
Nice location; there is a park right across the street and plenty of shopping/eating areas within a couple miles. Some greeting card designs are nice.
Cons
Management is truly the main problem. A husband-wife team who own the company, and are fairly rude, if not downright mean to their employees, particularly the wife. She often berates, bullies and insults employees in front of everyone. While not a graphic designer herself, she regards herself as one. So if you try to suggest alternate or different design/production methods, your idea(s) will get shot down. Furthermore this company does not pay well at all, even with the long hours you'll be working. Most of the time, you'll be there well past 5. And, no, they don't pay you overtime. Trying to leave on time, even if all your work is done, is highly frowned upon and labels you as someone who isn't a "team player". The work is quite boring. Very rarely do you do any design work as it is mostly done by freelance designers. Instead you'll be doing production work about 90% of the time, and very technical production work too (such as editing code). Your are basically pressing the same button over and over again.The work flow is designed in a manner that is totally time inefficient and impractical, and as I said, you are not allowed to change it. There is also the owner's dog which they insist on bringing in everyday. They also leave it in the office while they are out shopping, at lunch, at their kid's events, etc. The dog itself barks constantly, creating a distraction more than anything. Because it is also a large dog, it has been able to push open the door and run out. Because of this, management insists on locking the front door. They sometimes also play "catch" with it inside the office, causing further distractions. Management usually hires students out of art school because they are inexpensive and fairly naive. The entire staff, save for the husband, is female which, for a lack of a better term, leads to "drama". The turnover rate is also fairly high. Most people tend to leave within a year or less. If you are looking for an entry-level design job, this is not it. I wish someone had warned me about this place before I took it (mainly out of desperation). You will learn nothing worthwhile as a designer at this place, it pays poorly, there is no room for growth and it causes undue stress. I was literally so miserable at times, I would dread waking up in the morning and going to that place. This is about as mild as I can make a review for Aperion, please look elsewhere, they are much better opportunities.
