Pros

-Easy commute to SJ office if you live in South Bay -Good work/life balance. Some employees even work remote. -Free lunch/snacks/breakfast -Good medical benefits -Some decent engineers ( dwindling ) and pockets of good cloud engineering work. -Opportunities to get trained on NoSql. -Once you know the core product, there are enough implementation opportunities that pay more in the outside market. -Good salary/bonus

Cons

-If you are a Ebay/IBM/BEA employee with close ties to Apigee management from the same companies, you might do well here. For others, it's tough luck. -The Insights acquisition(20 mn USD) was a terrible move. A lot of the top brass in Insights were then forced out or left. -Too many new IBM-ers in Analytics/Insights who just don't have the knowledge. They are unable to come up with ideas to solve teething issues. -Engineers and even some managers who work hard find no opportunities to go up the ladder. Instead higher management plays a game of musical chairs by moving their favorites amongst the same old projects/silos. -Company is really a marketing machine. Behind the marketing veneer, you will find few good engineers who are stretched trying to keep all the infrastructure in place. -After the massive reverse split ( and the resulting scale up in employee's options prices ) a lot of employees are either completely underwater or have enough money in equity to buy a used 2000 model corolla. -From a RSU perspective, good for employees joining now. You can negotiate RSUs and potentially make more than the underwater employees. On the other hand, company does not even talk about how it is going to retain engineers who started before the IPO date. -Company spends money on a lot of frivolous things and bleeds cash. Just look at the past financial statements. At this rate, if the company does not turn profits in 3 to 4 quarters, they will go the way of MobileIron. -With the entry of Amazon and Azure into the API management space, Apigee is going to get squeezed. -Company tries hard to make new products - but these either don't scale well or are too limited to be of any real use ( eg: IOT enabling SDKs ) -Many talented, top engineers left in the last few months because of the above reasons and this is going to cause a lot of pain.

My #1 response to this review is sadness. I think we try to cultivate a culture that encourages people to be heard and welcomes the courage to offer positive and negative opinions. We do follow the radio sports personality Jim Rome's mantra of "have a take and don't suck" which means that we want to hear what our people think and expect that their thoughts will be well researched, enlightened, and oriented toward improving technology and better serving customers. Since the author is listed as a current employee I really hope that she or he will find the strength to stand up and be heard at Apigee. All hands meetings are held for a reason - because we need everyone's full contributions (hearts, heads, hands) to make this thing work. So, please stand up at the next meeting, challenge the fancy words and rhetoric, and help us make Apigee better. I promise that you'll be proud of yourself for the courage you've demonstrated and will be operating from a place of strength rather than fear.

Pros

There are a lot of exceptional people at Apigee. There are also people who aren't quite there yet, but most of them are young and by being here, they'll definitely be exceptional in their field in the future. If you're an Engineer, you'll be tasked with challenging problems. The problems, in my experience, have been fun and exciting. I remember during my interview, my interviewer said something that really stuck with me and enticed me into joining and that was "We're trying to solve the problems of the future". For context during the interview, "problems" referred to technical problems, but in many ways Apigee as a whole is trying to solve other problems in the world. If there's anything that you need in order to do your job better, you can definitely send a casual message to either the front desk (people ops) or IT. There's also a vending machine with common accessories. Parking is a breeze if you manage to get access to the building's parking lot. Otherwise, it's a small walk from the other parking lot down the street. Keto/Low-carbers will not have many issues with the catered lunch selections. There's usually always options. I, however, sometimes cheat when Sushi day comes along. Mostly everyone's calendar is public so you can spy Table tennis table and billiards in the gym

Cons

You might gain weight here if you aren't strongly willed when 11:30am comes around, but even the healthy options are tasty
