Pros

Over the past year, the company has navigated some significant challenges, which were understandably difficult at times. However, the path forward has been positive, with noticeable improvements in communication, collaboration, and overall alignment across the organization. Several initiatives have helped create greater transparency and connection to the company's goals. The introduction of company-wide OKRs has made it much clearer how individual and team contributions connect to broader business objectives. The executive team is transparent, approachable, and open to feedback. Leadership encourages employees to be curious, experiment, and bring forward new ideas. If you see an opportunity for improvement, you're empowered to take ownership and run with it. The remote-first culture provides the opportunity to work with talented people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives around the world. There is a high degree of autonomy and trust, with leaders who focus on outcomes rather than micromanagement. The work is interesting, challenging, and provides opportunities for growth and impact.

Cons

Priorities can sometimes shift quickly as new information emerges and decisions are made. Continued focus on communicating the rationale behind changes and reinforcing the "why" would help employees continue to understand and navigate these shifts.

Pros

Appfire has a strong remote-first culture. People are trusted to own their work, and there's a genuine effort to support work-life balance rather than just talk about it. The company values are embedded in our daily work and it's regularly seen when collaborating across departments and countries. Leadership encourages curiosity and continuous improvement, and there are plenty of opportunities to take on new challenges and grow your skills. I can honestly say that this is the brightest group of people I've ever seen at an organization. The global nature of the company also means you get exposure to different perspectives and ways of working. Appfire emphasizes flexibility, employee development, and a people-first culture.

Cons

Like many fast-growing companies, priorities can shift quickly, and keeping up with organizational changes can sometimes be challenging. Working across multiple time zones requires flexibility, and communication can occasionally take longer when coordinating globally. There is a lot of opportunity, but that can also mean balancing priorities. It's no secret that these challenges are present but the same would be true for any global organization.

Pros

- Culture that seems to actually care about its employees - Genuinely wonderful co-workers

Cons

- Heavily tied to Atlassian marketplace. As such, if Atlassian decides to make a tool that does what one of Appfire's apps does, that's lost revenue for Appfire. Similarly, if people start switching away from Atlassian products, they will have no need for Appfire products. - When I was let go as part of a reduction in force, it was a mere month or so after the most recent all hands where they claimed everything was great and that the last thing they'd ever want to do is let go of people. This also was preceded by the founder/CEO stepping down and a new CEO taking his place.
