Pros

A quick way into government contractor. Compensation package is acceptable as far as contractors go, if you understand going in that it will not change significantly year to year, if at all.

Cons

Upper management under-resources the project/program managers, thereby making the relationship to contractors strained at best. In three years, I have had three PMs, none of whom felt supported or in-sync with senior management. No opportunities for upward mobility. Contracts are typically under-written and the client expects significantly more from contractors. Apprio does nothing to mediate this tension. Result is contractors assume substantially more workload, without Apprio making any effort to support contractors financially, if nothing else. Communication is inconsistent. Policy is never properly communicated to contractors.

Pros

Challenging assignments and opportunities to learn and grow, fun company events, positive company culture, and an owner who cares about his employees. Business is good and the company is growing. Apprio is a pleasant surprise compared to other government contractors where I've worked.

Cons

Like any company that has grown fast, corporate infrastructure is struggling to keep up.
