Cons

Highly toxic environment, driven by a passive-aggressive CEO who makes arbitrary decisions without regard for employee welfare. The VP of Product lacks essential knowledge in product management, agile methodologies, and technical skills, leading to chaotic and ineffective leadership. The company's primary focus on sales results in a lack of clear product vision, fostering a culture of broken promises and subpar deliverables. The CEO sends demoralizing and unprofessional emails when terminating employees, demonstrating a severe lack of respect and professionalism. The absence of a VP of Human Resources for extended periods is indicative of the toxic work culture and insufficient employee support. The HR manager in Costa Rica is inexperienced, lacks emotional intelligence, and is fearful of job loss, resulting in poor support and advocacy for employees. Employees are frequently demotivated and led to believe their work is inadequate, creating an atmosphere of insecurity and mistrust. The CTO is largely absent, proposing impractical ideas without providing the necessary budget or support for execution.

Assuming you are an employee (we know that Glassdoor does not validate employment), you know we take our culture seriously. We conduct quarterly anonymous employee feedback on executives and the CEO, achieving 100% participation. This is an important part of our sharing and caring culture and provides an opportunity for you to give us this feedback directly every 3 months. In the last round of feedback, we did not see similar concerns, so it seems these feelings may have solidified recently. We want to understand and address them. We have an open door to all HR leaders in the company at all locations. And those meetings are confidential (in terms of identity). None of our HR people reported any concerns or feedback of this nature, but we encourage you to take advantage of their services. We also provide methods of sending concerns anonymously to company executives. We did not see any feedback there. So we must assume you are an employee who, at least on that day, felt quite negative. Enough to let us know in this forum rather than through the myriad channels we provide. Whatever led to these feelings we hear you and will continue to strive to do better. Much of your advice is best practice in any quality company, and we agree we can continue to execute along those lines and appreciate your suggestions given. We strongly encourage you to approach any HR professional in the company confidentially to air your concerns so that we can address them with you and others as needed. We aim to keep Appvance a place where employees feel it's the best place they've ever worked. We hear this often (even on Glassdoor) and we are hopeful we can alleviate your concerns quickly to have you feel the same way soon. Pros

Innovation is a capricious Siren. Tantalizingly close, yet still elusive, until that moment when you hear the click as the last piece slots in place and you know you've got something that will shake the core of the industry. We get perhaps one or two in our careers. Here, that is almost a daily experience. So cool.

Cons

Hard work, impossible deadlines, shifting priorities, eye-watering velocity ... hey, it's just startup life.

Pros

My time at Appvance has been an incredible journey. This is a fast-moving company with a product that is truly leading the industry. Although we are still in start-up mode, which means we often wear many hats, it's exciting to be exposed to so many different aspects of the business. This exposure has been invaluable in helping me develop my skillset. One of the things I appreciate most about Appvance is the involvement of our CEO. Unlike many leaders who manage from behind a computer screen, our CEO is always willing to be customer-facing and directly involved. This hands-on approach not only boosts team morale but also ensures we stay connected to our customers' needs and feedback. Overall, Appvance is a fantastic place to work if you're looking for a dynamic environment where you can grow and make a real impact.

Cons

As a startup, there are occasional growing pains and processes that are still being ironed out. As we continue to grow that means that resources can sometimes be limited, and teams need to be creative and resourceful.
