Pros

Having worked in all facets of the insurance industry over 15+ years, I can say without reservation that Apta has the best small-company culture I've experienced. There is an incredible focus on communication and transparency. The entire impetus for the company's founding was to create a model that focused not only on performance, but also a continued eye on the humanistic side of health insurance. That focus extends not only to our clients' members, but also to Apta's own employees. If I were to sum up my experiences here in a few words, they would be: innovative, responsive, wholesome, rewarding, and accelerating!

Cons

As with any small company, there are some feelings of "existential dread" regarding solvency during particularly challenging times like a global pandemic. That said, I feel that, despite our size, we have had a proactive and measured approach in terms of both our financial preparation and our willingness to meet employees' needs for flexibility and security.

I can't think of anything. It is a remote environment, so some people might want to be in person.

Pros

The company has nice people. They reimburse you for travel and cost.

Cons

The healthcare is terrible. There is only one plan and if you don't use the virtual care then you pay a high deductible. Also it's all cash pay so you don't really have an insurance card and half the time the card declines and you have the call the company to have it loaded. The dental plan is terrible and they do not have tuition reimbursement. It's a small company without many perks. And the pay is so-so.
