Aptera Software

Is this your company?

Work was good, the people sucked. - Software Developer Aptera Software Employee Review

Pros

Two things make Aptera successful. One, the sales and marketing keep work coming in. Second, there is a small group of developers that are top notch, not just in programming but project management.

Cons

The bad part is that these developers are not listened to. Very little requirements gathering is done. No real business analysis is done. No architecting is done. Since no up-front planning is done, projects frequently run over time. Instead of correcting the issue, they crack down on developers and expect them to work after hours without compensation. From an employee perspective, no information is given on policy changes. No information is provided on work expectations until after something happens. The environment is very clickish. If you aren't "in" with the department head, then you are ostracized and dismissed.

Pros

I worked with Aptera as a sales person and I can honestly say I am so grateful for the experience I gained and the people I got to work with. I would say as a company - everyone at Aptera aims to be constantly bettering themselves, which, really helped as a salesperson. When you're selling something you genuinely believe in - it comes across to the prospect/client. Unlike many tech companies that really just focus on developing the technical staff - Aptera places a HEAVY emphasis on quality in the sales team - they invest a LOT in sales training and treat sales as a craft. One of the coolest things about Aptera - EVERY Friday morning - they get the ENTIRE company together for an "Employee Recognition" meeting with the sole purpose of highlighting any victories and/or positives during that week of working on projects. Such a cool tradition. They also understand that no one will be in any job forever and the CEO especially is very open about this - he genuinely aims to add to anyone's life that crosses his path and wishes them well in the end. Although I have accepted a role at another company... if someone came to me and asked if they should work at Aptera - I would say absolutely.

Cons

(N/A) However... If you suck at ping pong - you need to practice before working here - because you will get whooped.
