Pros
The benefits are good even though they cut health benefits, went to an HSA plan but they pitch in money each year. It's still better than most. The 401k is good with a 6% match.
Cons
Very high turnover in this company, they rather people leave so salary expenses stay low than pay to keep talent. Absolutely no mobility. When you interview they will tell you that opportunities are endless, but they require you to stay in the same position for 2 years before any advancement can happen. Unfortunately, after 2 years there still aren't any opportunities. Several people have been sitting in their same positions for 10+ years. They bring in a lot of expats to handle jobs that US employees should be offered/promoted to. In the rare case that someone is promoted, they are based off friendships instead of actual work ethic. It's unfortunately how the steel industry seems to work in general. It's a good ole boys club. There really isn't much culture within the company. If you're interested in the work environment that other industries offer, such as work from home, team building activities inside and outside of the office, great work/life balance, opportunities for promotions, etc. you will not find that here. Bonuses are a percentage of your base salary, so you will have co-workers who don't pull their weight but they will still receive a bonus. If they have a higher salary than you, they get a bigger bonus.
