Pros
The company has a really great reputation amongst Indigenous communities, which is arguably the most important stakeholder in this kind of work. The supervisors are fun, welcoming, and very reasonable with the training and adjustment period. They also take health and safety very seriously so nobody is ever working injured or sick, as it should be!
You get to spend all day outside in nature. Finding cool artifacts! Can listen to music most days.
Cons
Long drives to sites (unpaid).
Half days can happen unexpectedly due to weather, which sucks to have less pay for those days (but you will be paid for half a day even for getting to site). Work is subject to weather, so excessive wildfire smoke, thunderstorms, and snow can cause an unexpected day off.
Physical labour: this is only a con for some people but definitely know that is is hard on your body and takes some adjustment to get used to.
