Pros

Good weather, no calamity, affordable living cost, easy to apply, but there are plenty of scholarship and on-campus work opportunities.

Cons

ASU is known as a party school, not a good place to study. I say so become I stay on other university campus including Caltech, UCLA, Berkeley. I can sit quietly in library and learn much more. I don't know. It's like the school culture problem. ASU is not good for research either, with limited equipment. Half of my advisor's funding goes to ASU, and it provides nothing but the name "ASU" and office/lab spaces. As a PhD student, I cost my advisor same amount of money as postdoc, but more than half money goes to ASU again as 'tuition' for which I have not take solid real class. ASU cares more than making money than anything else.

Pros

Highly interactive job where you meet lots of different students and form connections

Cons

I don't like the administration changes that they have implemented in 2026. It more dictatorial now and tutor who are the face of their organization are not given much voice.
