Pros

You will be able to buy a home and pay your mortgage in the Seattle area.

Cons

"Mercurial and ineffective leadership instills a culture of fear and competition, rather than the collaborative, quirky culture splashed across their website. At Artefact, it's every man for himself, with particular value placed on individual, fixed creative genius, rather than collaboration, growth, and empathy. The founders talk a lot about design for a more equitable, sustainable future, but it stops there." - This person said it best.

Pros

- incredible colleagues: I've never worked with a more kind and smart group of people who share common values and support each other's passions and growth - attentive and transparent leadership: they consistently check in to see how you're doing, seek feedback, and keep us all in the loop on business health, finances, etc - incredible diversity of project types: purpose-driven work in healthcare, education, emerging technologies, social impact, and more - learning outside of projects: very active practice communities for Design and Research/Strategy fuel our collective growth and create space for really rich discussions - coaching: strong internal mentorship program that supports your growth and provides the opportunity to mentor others - perks: amazing compensation and benefits, including generous PTO, sick, and parental leave, education and well-being stipends, and more

Cons

As in any agency, providing the highest quality work to our clients sometimes means that we have to move pretty quickly to deliver within tight timelines. However, if the workload ever becomes too much for a project team, there is open communication and multiple avenues for bringing in additional support. Team health is top of mind for all of our leads and project advisors.

Pros

I took some time between leaving Artefact and the time of writing this review, and there are two areas that stand out; the work and the people. The work is exciting and it is challenging whether you're a consultant or non-consultant, but even more, it provides you purpose. The Company preaches autonomy. But autonomy in and of itself isn't enough. At Artefact, all levels from the owners to staff will not only just give you autonomy to make suggestions, but are there throughout the process. Along the way, they will challenge you, and then they will support you and help ensure the best possible outcome. This creates an opportunity for growth, development and success. You can have an impact at any level, which provides you as an employee with Purpose. Many companies talk about culture, and maybe put it into their motto, into their annual goals or maybe on their internal intranet. Or maybe they consider to be having a social event, team/company event or whatever. But almost a year after leaving Artefact, I still email and talk with the owners, have coffee or drinks with senior directors, and was even recently greeted with a hug by an associate who I ran into at a grocery store. At Artefact, you are more than just co-workers with others and more than just an employee with the owners. Its personal and its genuine at all levels of the company. But overall, I can say that I am a better person for having worked at Artefact

Cons

Artefact has a flat heirarchy, so there are always struggles that will come with that .... but its still better than a large structured company.
