Pros

Co-workers are friendly and supportive, makes the workload more bearable. Providers and frontline staff are passionate about helping patients and making sure they get the care they need and deserve. Snacks are given occasionally as a show of appreciation. Free healthcare and vacation/sick accruement is fair.

Cons

Management: Management is dismissive to employee's complaints, and staff are told to bring complaint up to Union. Pay: Although pay is competitive, the work required is more than doubled the standard PSR workflow. And any work that seems ambiguous are trickled down to be PSRs' work. PSR is 1 department that does the work of 3 departments (Referrals, Phone, Front Desk), but Phone and Referrals department are only required to do their own roles (with same or more pay). Strikes are constant due to unfairness in pay and frontline staff are devalued. Management seeks to grow AHS while turning a blind eye to the staff that are aiding patients every day. Inflation is apparent, but management is still penny pinching a fair wage. Career Growth: Opportunity is nonexistent unless you are going down medical path. As for someone who is passionate about healthcare administration and is looking for growth within the field, I am hard blocked by strict job filters without any leniency (even as an employee in the company for years.) Company Vision: The AHS mission statement is to "serve and advocate for the medically underserved", but it seems like they abandon the workers that are in the frontline serving and advocating.
