Culture of mediocrity Very cliquish office culture The one rule of working at ATD is that everything ATD does is amazing and perfect. New ideas are dismissed out of hand, dissent is not tolerated, and preferential treatment is rampant. If Mean Girls and Office Space had a baby, it would be ATD. Do not trust the five star reviews. Most have been added since the start of 2021. When I got hired here, the average review was 2.4 stars. Now it's 4.4. I promise you, nothing changed over the time that I worked there. Draw your own conclusions. For an "amazing place to work," ATD sure has a lot of turnover. I watched many, many colleagues leave within a year (sometimes even less). If you're fortunate, you'll see how things work here and leave on your own terms. If you aren't, you'll be quietly shown the door. Oddly enough, for a talent development association, ATD isn't really great at developing talent. Onboarding is minimal. Leadership does not have a growth mindset. Supervisors make very quick judgments about who they like and who they don't and dole out professional opportunities accordingly. If you do end up working here, don't trust anyone. Everyone will be super friendly to your face. But people routinely throw each other under the bus behind closed doors in the hope that it will somehow advance their careers. One last thing. My experience at ATD was better than most and I left on good terms with everyone on my team. I'm sharing this so that you can have an honest picture of what it is like here. Believe me, you can do better.
